Modern Czech Painting and the Classical Tradition (NEUMANN, Jaromír)

This book is a continuation of Czech Classic Painting of the 19th Century, published by Artia in 1955. The period dealt with is the transition period of the last third of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. In this book we have set ourselves a modest task: to present, within the limits imposed, the main characteristics of some of the most important personalities of the time and by these limited but characteristic examples to show the variety, the national character and the quality of Czech painting in a period which was so significant for the art of the whole of Europe.
